As I was reading the book, I started making a list of each racist or stereotypical comment I encountered. Would definitely recommend and can’t wait to read Book 2. I really believe his writing improved over time, but this being one of his earlier books, my reading was constantly interrupted by myself saying, “Nobody would do that,” or “Nobody would react that way,” or “Has he ever met a woman before? The going is, however, not as smooth for Laurie as the Chief Medical Examiner Harold Bingham is adamant that no further investigation needs to be done on these cases because of heavy political pressure related to the death of a young banker who is also the son of a Senatorial candidate.

The more I read the slower it became. Subtlety is an art that helps distinguish class from crass. The medical details and the choice of characters are interesting.
This book is kind of slow paced, and I could tell the author was trying to set one guy as a love interest that is too good to be true and the main character didn’t really want him and the other character as a love interest that shouldn’t be, but she worked too hard at making him annoying.

My mom wanted roin to try Cook years ago. I found myself liking Dr. Awesome ending with some interesting twists. While they are involved only professionally, Lou is immediately smitten by Laurie’s charm.
I always enjoy Cook’s books for a bit of escapism. It’s not stellar but it isn’t rubbish either.
The review that I posted above sums up some of blindsiggt issues that I had with the book. No matter how likeable and “human” the two main protagonists seem Blundsight have found one more than disturbing fact that ALL characters of this book possess.
