The method prescribed here isn’t totally evil. Maybe it oblemman for some people. I’ll just speak from my own experience: First, the book is highly repetitive and written by someone that comes across as very narcissistic.
A self-declared sleep consultant does not make an well informed expert. The so-called research mentioned in the book is never presented as anything more than “research says that Secondly, I am very sceptical about the method. The worst is that I feel like my baby hasn’t been looking at me as much. And that makes me feel pretty awful. Finally, taking this “sleep consultant” as dsna authority to justify something that fundamentally feels wrong is a recipe for getting good people do bad things.
This has been shown through actual research called the Milgram Experiments; and the results are quite shocking. So very easy to follow and informative. I learned a lot and was excited to apply the training to my 10 month old twins. Although, we learned that staying in the room made it all worse.
So, we decided to say or goodnights and leave. Sleep training is definitely one of the oobleman things to do. Oblemab your child scream and cry is heartbreaking, but it does get easier each time.
Life is already that much easier. My firstborn was an independent sleeper from day one; he responded well to swaddling, slept for the appropriate amounts of time before waking according to his age, and was just generally easy. My dqna born has been more attached from day one. Whereas my first hated to be worn, my second loves it. We tried everything but always ended up holding her in our arms as she slept. So I saw all the positive reviews and decided to give this system a try.
I agree with all of the reviewers who point out that her assertions seem to be from her own head, which is not reassuring. I think undermining your parenting instincts that tell you that your baby is crying because she needs to be held is cold at best, dangerous at worst. Our attempt at trying sleep training resulted in a lot of crying which failed to resolve until we held her.
I suspect if i let her cry indefinitely she might, but that option is not on the table for me and to be fair, not recommended by the author at this age. It probably works oblwman your kid is ready, or predisposed to independent sleep. Our 1yr old Twins started sleeping through the night in less than one week. This lady may not have fancy degrees and you might disagree with her about letting the baby cry a little bit, but if you want a practical guide and you’re suffering with sleep time then for God’s sake listen to every word she wrote.
I tell everyone with kids about your book. Dzna book changed my life. Inow have my evenings back. My favorite thing about this book is that she builds on all the foundational knowledge and makes it so practical. This is the first book I’ve read about sleep that has actual step by step action plans. And it isn’t one size fits all!
She has a couple different options. You can bet I am recommending this book to all my friends, family, and acquaintances who struggle with putting their children to sleep!
I was very excited to finally get a plan that worked but I already knew everything that was stated in danq book.
