While the setting and themes will call to fans of the 40K universe, the plot is not overly original and the battles can get a bit tedious as they try to include as much of the Eldar force as possible rather than focusing just on the actions of the Striking Scorpion squad. I understand why the author did it, as we got to see much more of the path of the warrior than most Eldar on that path see. The Eldar’s culture is described in this novel quite well, though I would prefer some more reference to the Japanese culture.
